ThenCue Privacy Policy

About this policy

This policy explains how information is handled when you use ThenCue for iOS, visit our website, or contact support. For questions or privacy requests, email thencue.support@gmail.com. It covers the current version; available features depend on your iOS version and the permissions you grant.

Information on your device

ThenCue stores your reminders, notes, trigger and repeat settings, selected calendar event details, saved places and coordinates, custom sounds, preferences, and reminder scheduling status on your device. The app does not upload your reminder content, selected calendar events, saved places or custom sounds to us or to a service collecting them on our behalf. We do not sell this content or use it for advertising. The current app has no ThenCue account, cloud sync, advertising or third-party analytics SDK. Apple system services, device backups and support messages you choose to send are described separately below.

Location and maps

With your permission, location is used to show your position on the map and detect arrival at or departure from places you select. Some location reminders need Always location access so the operating system can detect relevant events in the background. Selected places, coordinates and trigger status are stored locally. Map display, place search and address lookup use Apple MapKit and Core Location; these system services may send search, location and technical information to Apple under its privacy terms. ThenCue does not send a location history to the developer. You can use time reminders without location permission.

Calendars

If you use calendar reminders, ThenCue requests calendar access to list events for the date you choose and associate reminders with selected events. It reads event identifiers, titles, calendar names, start and end times, and recurrence information, and saves selected event details locally to schedule reminders. iOS calls this permission Full Access. ThenCue uses it to read events; it does not create, edit or delete calendar events. Calendar account synchronization is managed by iOS and your calendar provider.

Audio, selected media and microphone

ThenCue receives the files or videos you select through system pickers and processes them on your device to create reminder sounds. Selecting a video does not require access to your entire photo library. Microphone permission is used for recordings you start. The app retains an editable audio source and the reminder clips you save until you remove the sound. Imported video is used temporarily to extract audio; it is not kept as part of the saved sound. Editing drafts are removed when the editing session closes, and leftover drafts are cleared when the sound editor is initialized on a later app launch. If you select an item from iCloud or another file provider, that provider may download it under its own terms. Deleting a sound in ThenCue does not delete your original file or video outside the app.

Notifications, alarms and Shortcuts

With the relevant permissions, ThenCue passes reminder text, times, selected sounds and identifiers to notification or alarm services on your device. Content may appear on the lock screen according to your device settings. Shortcuts uses reminder identifiers, reminder text shown when selecting an action, and trigger types to let you choose and run a reminder. ThenCue keeps local binding and execution status. Automations you create, their synchronization, and any third-party actions you add are managed through Shortcuts and the relevant providers.

Contacting support

We receive your email address, message and any attachments only when you choose to email us, to answer your request and investigate the issue. The app does not automatically attach reminder data or diagnostic logs. Usually, describing the issue is enough; you can hide unrelated personal content before sending screenshots or attachments. These emails are handled by your mail provider and our Gmail service. Google may process email in countries other than yours under its privacy terms; this does not give us access to the reminders stored on your device.

Visiting our website

Our website is hosted by Cloudflare. When you open these pages, Cloudflare processes connection information such as your IP address, requested URL and browser information to deliver and protect the pages. Opening a policy or support link does not attach the content of your reminders. We do not add advertising trackers or analytics scripts. Cloudflare may process connection information internationally under its privacy terms.

Retention, deletion and your choices

You can edit or delete reminders and saved places in the app. Deleting a reminder updates its scheduled notifications, alarms and location monitoring so it no longer generates new reminders; scheduling failures are shown in the app. Custom sounds can be deleted after removing their use by reminders. Older sound clips are retained while needed by existing system schedules and are cleaned up after successful schedule reconciliation when no alarm is ringing. Local scheduling records help show reminder status and diagnose failures; the refresh history keeps the latest 30 entries (times, outcomes and error messages), while the latest background result and some Shortcuts execution records remain until updated, their binding is discarded, or the app is deleted. These records are not uploaded to us. Deleting the app, rather than offloading it, removes its locally stored app data through iOS. Backups may contain earlier app data and are managed through Apple or your backup provider. You can revoke permissions in iOS Settings; features that need them may stop working. We retain support correspondence while a request or related follow-up remains open, or where needed for a legal obligation or dispute, and remove it when those reasons no longer apply. You can request deletion by email. Mail-provider backups follow the provider's retention rules.

Purposes and legal grounds

Where data protection law requires a legal basis, we handle support requests as necessary to provide the assistance you request, and rely on legitimate interests in responding to feedback and maintaining a safe, reliable website where that basis is permitted. We process information when necessary to meet legal obligations, and obtain consent where required. Permissions for location, calendars and microphone are requested separately for the features you choose. We do not use your information for automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.

Privacy rights and security

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or obtain a copy of information we hold, restrict or object to its use, withdraw consent, or complain to a privacy authority. Contact us to exercise these rights; we may need proportionate information to verify your request. Permissions and local-only content are managed on your device. We use device protections and reasonable measures to protect information. We disclose support information only as needed to provide support through our service providers, comply with legal obligations, or protect legitimate rights and safety.

Children and policy updates

ThenCue is not specifically directed to children, and we do not knowingly solicit personal information from children through support. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us so we can address it. We may update this policy when features or information practices change, with the updated date shown here and additional notice when required.
